Details of current opportunities at AMEB Victoria are provided below

AMEB Victoria Examiner

Are you a skilled musician / music educator with experience in preparing candidates for assessment?

AMEB Victoria is currently recruiting for examiners in most instruments (not singing or clarinet/sax in 2026), but with a particular focus on those with specialisms in piano, violin / viola, double bass, flute and double reeds. It would be beneficial, but not required, if a prospective flute examiner could also examine recorder candidates.

AMEB Victoria examiners are responsible for the assessment of candidates at various times throughout the year in both metropolitan and regional Victoria and availability between October and December along with a willingness to travel to regional venues would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will have:

  • a tertiary qualification relevant to their specialist examining area, or equivalent experience
  • significant experience as both a performer and teacher, with a demonstrated record of excellence in at least one
  • highly developed communication skills, particularly with children
  • good interpersonal and report-writing skills
  • current Working with Children Check or VIT registration

For a full position description including all selection criteria see the donwload below.

Our examiners are casual employees, paid at an hourly rate plus superannuation. Travel allowances are payable where applicable.
